Good Guy Gone,Norm

Live,Learn,Love&Laugh-Man has learned to swim like a fish, fly like a bird,if only he could learn to walk like a man, then this earth would truly be a paradise! What goes around, comes around,So be nice and laugh alot!Norm got elected to sit on the board & did a good job at access aids sudbury & his sudden death put a sad feeling to this years xmas party for HIV+ persons in sudbury. At least i got to see my ex Tina, she had all her teeth pulled and is waiting for dentures. We have a 9 yr old boy in Ottawa and i asked how Jessie James is doing these days in hockey,=good, seems these "partys" always have a sad undertone to them. Why do we make such a deal about death,it happens all the time, all around us and to us,yua'd think we would be usaed to it by now,but i guess death is never easy to talk about let alone to experience it slowly.I havge experienced both and i would rather go fast myself, rather then to have it drag on and on.&b i am not alone in this feeling as i have heard theres these suicide partys starting to happen in the USA and they are becomeing more popular i guess and i can see why.who wants to live in a diaper or having to rely on someone else is the hard part for me to deal with.I have been cooking for myself since 5,and was in my own place at 15,and have looked after myself ever since i can remember.Mom had to work 2 jobs & dad wasnt around too much ,so it was just me and my bro's kickin around the house or yard.I wish my parents had instilled a bigger work ethic in me,or any work ethic for that matter.seems i am stuck on the dole,or disability for life, sucks being poor and scraping by check to check.I have been scraping by my whole life.so i am kinda used to not having certain things, car & house being the 2 biggest things i miss.I love to drive, but dont get the chance to do it that often, and hjow the hell did i go on to these subjects?thats one thing about my blogging its always just the ramnblings and mindless drivel that are caslled my thoughts as i sit here typing at this stupid machine, whynot a beautifull machine?& how did i ever get to talking about stuff that really has nothing to do with Norm??sorry bud i tend to driftwow he's gone eh?ya that sucks big time peoples!he now lives in our memories,so i guess he really isnt forgotten eh,as long as we remember him in our minds and hearts he will live on.Thats kinda comforting i think, its all i have.My fear is dimentia and if i will know when i lose my mind?and will i be able to return to sanity when once i get it?will i have moments of realization or will i be totally gone?scary questions that run through my head when i think about HIV & how it effects my life.will i remember my loved ones when i am effected by this "dimentia"thing??I will look into it and check it out,ok foilks thats all for now.have a good one and GODBless Y'all, peace be with yous!

We are headed for Troubles

Well xmas is over, finaly,we can get back to our semi normal lives. It was with sadness that i remember that i lost a close friend last week.I say close because i will really miss him and his positive outlook. His death comes at a time when we are supposed to be able to live 20 years & then some. Not die in midlife! But he is off to a better place and is not suffering anymore eh folks?at least not that i know of.I am not sure whether he made it into heaven or is in purgatory(doubt it)I doubt it because i think it is man made=made up by a religeon that needed $$ to fund its crusades & so thought up this money making "plan" but i digress eh folks?nways i was talking to my younger bro yesterday ,seemns he has been dreaming of the end and has informed me that it will happen shortly after saddam Hussains death, which is pending in 30 days from nowhe told me that the end will happen in 2007,so i told him NO Ron it wont happen untill 2012 as thats when the Mayan calender stops as the earth will be hit by the Destroyer,a giant meteor or astroid,it was The Destroyer that ended life for the dinosours, and it will do the same to us,Everyone is expecting the earth to warm up-well they are all in for a shock as its going to do the opposite and freeze this planet solid, and man will have to desend underground if he wants a chance to live,& of course all this is hypothetiucal eh folks!BuT i feel like it is really going to happen on 2012,now i am not sure why this is the time that we will end life as we know it .I am ok with it,i am dyeing after all anywayshiv & hep-c certain death is going to be in your life eventually eh,so,My faith in GOD is what has brought me this far and it will bring me all the way to him,it is something that i dread and look forwards to.Man's duplicity is always entering into everything ya talk about ie sexism, feminism, isms co9meing out yer ass!Who court on the 17 jan.have to wait n see i guess

Norm-A Fallen warrior, and sadly missed by many....

It was alot of walking ,but it was the best event i have ever went to,learned alot, seen abit, slept in luxury, lived like a pauper at a palace really. But it was all good.exceot that i am still waiting to be reimbursed for my travel and food costs.oh well yet again eh fiolks! When I saw his obituary in the newspaper recently, I assumed he died of AIDS, but I was wrong. In an effort to raise awareness, he had shared with me his experiences living as a gay man infected with what, at the time, was thought to be a killer virus. His openness and courage about discussing his life and HIV-positive status, as well as his fears about it turning into full-blown AIDS, impressed me. Keep in mind, HIV and AIDS weren’t as “acceptable” 10 years ago, even though the stigma surrounding the disease and the perception that it only affects gay men and needle junkies persists today. Norm was committed to putting a “healthy face” on the disease and even back then, he worked closely with Access, The AIDS Committee of Sudbury, doing presentations at local high schools. He continued this work until his death. Norm never developed full-blown AIDS; in fact, his mother says he thought maybe a “miracle” had happened since he’d been HIV positive for more than 20 years. His death was caused by complications relating to Hepatitis B, more specifically an accidental acetaminophen overdose. When not taken as prescribed, acetaminophen, found in many common over-the-counter pain medications, can lead to serious liver damage and death, even in a perfectly healthy person. Like her son, Beatrice put her grief aside for a moment in order to share what happened in the days leading up to Norm’s death. She thought it was important people know the danger of over-the-counter painkillers. Norm hadn’t been feeling well for a few weeks. Beatrice says he had flu-like symptoms, he was tired, felt sick to his stomach and had a fever. But he was a busy man, in his third year of the massage therapy program at Collège Boréal, involved with organizations such as Access and Maison La Paix, and he didn’t have time to be ill. He “self medicated” with Tylenol to keep the symptoms he was feeling at bay so he could get on with life, but unfortunately, this ultimately resulted in the end of his. Norm spent Dec. 2 to 13 in a comma at the hospital as doctors worked to flush the high levels of acetaminophen out of his system, but there was too much liver damage already. On Dec. 12, he showed signs of improving, and his family was told there might still be some hope he would recover. But a day later, his parents were given the tragic news that Norm was now brain dead. The effects of the drug in his system had caused his brain to swell so much, it was on the verge of exploding. “We had to make the decision that day,” Beatrice says, her voice shaking with emotion. “At 4 pm, he gently passed back into arms of the Lord.” The health risks associated with acetaminophen made news across North America earlier this week after federal health officials in the United States proposed issuing stronger warnings labels about the potential danger and side-effects of this medication. In death, as in life, Norm continues to share his life story in order to raise awareness about important health issues. He showed us someone can live a fulfilling and rewarding life even after being diagnosed with HIV, it’s not an automatic death sentence. He showed us the importance of getting tested for the disease because the earlier it’s caught, the better the chance of it becoming a chronic manageable disease. He showed us that it’s important to talk to our kids about safe sex practices and other risky behaviours associated with AIDS. He showed us the importance of giving back to the community, regardless of one’s own circumstances. And lastly, he showed us the importance of being diligent about the medications we put into our bodies, even those perceived to be relatively harmless over-the-counter ones. Normand Lizotte was buried Monday. He was 43 years old.

at the Conf. for hiv

It was alot of walking ,but it was the best event i have ever went to,learned alot, seen abit, slept in luxury, lived like a pauper at a palace really. But it was all good.exceot that i am still waiting to be reimbursed for my travel and food costs.oh well yet again eh fiolks! It was a good time and we stayed in a luxuryous hotel for a week, food was paid for,but thew 4 hr wait the first day took alot outta me.and all the walking that was involved was way too much, and alot of us pha's feel that part could have been better planned out,but over all it was a resounding success ,so much so that 150 peoples from other countries decided to stay and seek refugee status, claiming that they will be hurt if they return to their respective countries. There was so much to do that it was very confusing i must say,and the programs offered were mostly about 3rd world countries, but that is wherte the most hard hit area's are eh folks?well ya,as whole generations are wiped out because of hiv aids.Pray for them folks, and send what you could afford,

Needed;motorhome or Tour Bus donated for a good cause!

Well my "Idea" of getting 12 HIV+ persons together is off to a slow start, but,i do have 5 persons willing to join in on talks ,i am not good at administrative stuff and one of the first things i gotta do is get this registered.i want to take this group of 12 across the country stopping at every city ,then we would break into teams of 4,going to 4 dif schools ,in the morning and 4 dif schools in the afternoon,so ,we would talk to 8 schools in 1 day .Right now this is just an idea, thought ,dream, whatever, but it is one worthy of doing ,or trying to do ,really making a dif,its basicly up to the individual themselves whether or not they will listen to our stories ,i could use some help on this from my fellow warriors in the fight against hiv, education and awareness is the key!peace all !~~~

HIV Filmfestival at MTV" Masonic Temple was Rockin

THINK HIV: This is Me," MTV, Kaiser Family Foundation: MTV and the Kaiser Family Foundation on Friday at the AIDS conference as part of the "thinkHIV" campaign will premiere the 30-minute documentary film in which young people across the U.S. discuss how the HIV/AIDS pandemic has affected their generation. It is the first television program created by MTV and the Kaiser Family Foundation that features 100%, user-generated content produced by young people. The film, which is composed of "short vignettes" that were filmed by people affected by HIV/AIDS, is "part memorial, part testimony." The initiative also will have an online counterpart that will feature vlogs and information and resources about HIV (MTV News & Docs/Kaiser Family Foundation release, 8/18).
"48fest," staying-alive.org: MTV Networks International on Thursday at the AIDS conference screened eight short films about HIV/AIDS produced by teams of young people. The teams were assigned to focus on one of eight topics -- including abstinence, machismo, HIV testing, condom use, violence against women, discrimination and stigma, and vulnerable populations. They had 48 hours to write, shoot and edit their films. "48fest gives young filmmakers the unique opportunity of telling their own stories about HIV and AIDS in their own voice," Georgia Arnold, vice president of public affairs for MTV Networks International, said, adding, "At MTV, we believe one of the strongest ways to deliver HIV and AIDS prevention messages is to empower our viewers to talk about HIV and AIDS, enable them to use their creativity, and give them a platform to share their voice with their peers." The films will be available in September for broadcast across MTV International's network of television stations, mobile TV channels, broadband services and Web sites. They will be compiled into a 30-minute documentary, titled "Staying Alive -- 48fest" (MTV International/Kaiser Family Foundation release, 8/9).
"Nigeria: Access to Health Care for People Living With AIDS," Physicians for Human Rights: The study, presented Thursday at the conference, finds that although health care providers in Nigeria often provide care to HIV-positive people, some providers discriminate against people living with HIV/AIDS and conduct unethical practices, including performing HIV-tests without consent and releasing confidential medical records without permission. The report -- which is based on data from two surveys in Nigeria, one of health care providers and one of HIV-positive people -- finds that 10% of health care providers reported refusing to treat an HIV-positive person and that 66% reported seeing a colleague refuse to treat an HIV-positive person. "The health sector is not immune to the kind of virulent discrimination that has hurt people with HIV/AIDS for many years," Leonard Rubenstein, PHR executive director, said, adding, "It is a very serious impediment to adequate AIDS treatment and affects the willingness of people with HIV to come forward. The situation underscores the need for a plan to build African health systems, so that medical workers have information, gloves and other supplies to protect themselves while caring for patients." The report offers several recommendations to address medical discrimination against HIV-positive people in Nigeria (PHR release, 8/17).
I was there and there was free booze for all!(i stuck to my water though)and although there were alot of cute girls i went back to my hotel suite alone,it was fun though, and the films were all great, and have inspired me to do more in the education area of HIV-AIDS Awareness and education.
